Personal Development & Why is it Important?

What we call life is a personal journey that unfolds from our choices and decisions. Its our given opportunity to have, do, and be happy by virtue of the thoughts we chose to encourage and use to navigate the life we experience.

Hidden Powers

Your mind is your brain at work... So, what does it think about? Whatever you instruct it to think about... This is 'why' personal development is important.

Let's compare your life's journey to a simple trip on an airplane to your desired destination. Before taking off, the pilot has a very clear destination in mind, which hopefully coincides with yours, and a flight plan to get there. The plane takes off at the appointed hour toward that predetermined destination. But in fact, the plane is off course at least 90 percent of the time. Weather conditions, turbulence, and other factors cause it to get off track. However, feedback is given to the pilot constantly, who then makes course corrections and keeps coming back to the exact flight plan, bringing the plane back on course. And often, the plane arrives at the destination on time. It's amazing. Think of it. Leaving on time, but of course 90 percent of the time. If you can create this image of an airplane, a destination, and a flight plan in your mind, then you understand the purpose of a personal mission statement. It is the picture of where you want to end up -- that is, your destination is the values you want to live your life by. Even if you are off course much or most of the time but still hang on to your sense of hope and your vision, you will eventually arrive at your destination and usually on time. That's the whole point -- we just get back on course.

Experts in air navigation have a rule of thumb known as the 1 in 60 rule. It states that for every 1 degree a plane veers off its course, it misses its target destination by 1 mile for every 60 miles you fly. This means that the further you travel, the further you are from your desired destination.

If our life were predictable it would cease to be life, and be without flavour. Life is not just the passing of time. Life is the collection of experiences and their intensity. Our daily thought, choices and decisions. Our time is a precious thing. Never waste it. If you don't value your time, no one else will. Your dreams are waiting for you, but they will not wait forever. Our time in this life is limited. And how we respect that time will create a greater possibility for fulfilment. Every second is of infinite value. Don't ever waste a day. Once time goes by, you never get it back
When you control your thoughts, you control the life you are living!

What's one of your aspirations?

We all have dreams... We all want to believe deep down in our souls that we have a special gift, that we can make a difference, that we can touch others in a special way, and that we can make the world a better place.

Take a moment now just to dream and to think about what you really want for your life. Before taking off, the pilot has a very clear destination in mind and a flight plan to get there.

Small Changes to Make a Big Difference

Our personal development or self improvement consists of the activities that develop our capabilities and potential, build human capital, facilitate employability, and enhance the quality of our life and the realisation of dreams and aspirations. We create our own personal experiences as we learn each spiritual lesson of which any circumstance contains, it passes away and gives place to other circumstances.

Today's message is not intended as an exhaustive treatise on the benefits of self-improvement. It is simply suggestive rather than explanatory, its objective being to stimulate you to the discovery and perception of the truth that -- as a progressive and evolving being, YOU are the creator of the life you experience.

Life is a continual journey created from the daily decisions that you are making. Its personal; its a given opportunity to have, do, and be happy from the life you desire for yourself, by virtue of the thoughts you choose and encourage to navigate the life you want.

Our level of stress is a direct result of how much of life we feel we are in control of or how much we feel life is controlling us.

Do you tend to control more of what's going on or does the events in your life control you? It's very easy to have those events start to take control unless you take control of what's happening between your ears, in your mind. You see, what you focus on massively effects how you feel whether you're thriving or surviving. If you focus on what you can't control, if you focus on the past, if you focus on what's missing from your life constantly. That pattern of focus will make you frustrated, overwhelmed, and depressed. It won't even matter if you're taking anti-depressants.

Personal development is looking inward and focusing on ways to better yourself.
Personal development increases your self-awareness, your self-esteem, increases your skills, and fulfils your aspirations. Life is too short for you to be anything but happy.

It’s all about being ready for anything. Rather than reacting to everything around you, you put yourself on the front foot, can control the situation, and are effectively proactive.

And all this reduces stress and overwhelm because you can make deliberate decisions about what you will do that day.
